On October 15th thousands of bloggers focused their writing efforts toward one issue, poverty. Since then I’ve taken some time to read through some of these posts. Here are a few of my personal favorites.
4 Ways to Alleviate Poverty in Your Community by Britt Bravo – Practical, everyday ideas for making a difference.
Charity & Justice for Refugees from Brother Maynard – Great post…bonus points for quoting Bono. One of my favorite speeches ever, with one of the best lines ever: “This is not about charity in the end, is it? It’s about justice”
Reflections on Poverty – Darren Rouse of Problogger, who is normally all business, opened up about his travels seeing poverty first hand.
Blog Action Day: Poverty 101 at Asian Nation – Good background and discussion about the “new poor” and “working poor.”
Fight Poverty by Promoting Education by Sara at On Simplicity - Ways to help the local public library…a great place that provides free educational services for everyone in the community.

Sandra Sims shows nonprofit organizations and activists how to create websites and blogs to promote their causes.

Wow! Thank you so much for mentioning my post. It’s a cause that’s near and dear to my heart. That’s part of what was fantastic about Blog Action Day: finding out the causes that are close to other bloggers’ hearts.
Thanks for the shout-out — I’m honoured to be on a shortlist! I figured I couldn’t go wrong quoting Bono… not when he gets it so right in that speech about facing up to a higher standard.
